So, Adara, why haven’t you posted much?

So, yes, I do want to be a published author some day and I am working slowly toward that end. But, I haven’t decided to make this a full-time career at this point. For one, my husband is only doing freelance blog article writing at the moment, which doesn’t pay enough to support us, so I don’t have the luxury of focusing on writing full-time for now. Second, I also happen to like my job. (Well, I liked it more before I became management because I hardly get to do the part that I really enjoyed, but I still like it.) So, that being the case, I have the luxury to take my time in building relationships, learning the industry, and networking slowly instead of throwing myself in head-first and hoping I can swim as I think I can.

I’ve joined the M/M Romance group on GoodReads (which I highly recommend to anyone looking to get into writing this genre). I have Facebook and Twitter pages (though Twitter doesn’t get much use yet either), and I’ve joined the PublishingTrove Yahoo! group, among other things.

And that’s what I’m doing when I’m not posting here. At some point, when I have more people interested in following me, then I’ll be more active about me. But right now, networking is more important to me, so that when I do get offered that first contract, I’ll have that support in place and can ask the question: “What now?”
